About me and my practice

For me, the most important part of being a good therapist is the ability to build a trusting, respectful and authentic relationship with my clients.  I take time to understand the person and their individual problems, as humans, we are unique and subsequently our therapy sessions should reflect this too. I tailor the work we do to best fit the changes you may be seeking to explore.

Helping people who are having issues with such things as alcohol, cocaine, prescription meds and gambling, I work with clients who are questioning their relationship with alcohol, looking to cut back or give up completely. Over the years I have learned it is never about the drug, the booze, the gambling, the porn, the whatever...It's about understanding the relationship you have with these things that is the catalyst to change and I can help you with this.

Experience

My work has taken me from the United States back to the UK.  Having gained a Postgraduate Degree in the Psychology of Addiction and Counselling from London Southbank University, my passion lies in helping people understand and work through their addictions. My skills include 1-1 working with all forms of addictive behaviours helping clients identify their internal and external triggers and setting healthier coping strategies in place.  In the past I have worked with young college students in an educational setting who were experiencing issues with addiction and more recently, in the private sector.

I understand first hand how substance misuse can affect not just the addict but also the relationships with everyone close to them. I offer individual therapy for those affected by their loved ones addiction, along with support and guidance for those that feel helpless whilst living with someone in active addiction.

I only use evidence based and researched models of treatment approaches, looking less behind at our childhoods and more moving you forward from today.

Therapeutic Models:

  • Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT)
  • Acceptance Commitment Therapy (ACT)
  • Motivational Interviewing (MI)
  • Mindfulness
  • Smart Recovery
